August Diary Sad to say I'm moving away from the area pretty soon so this will my last diary entry. I visited the replanted area of Hazel to see what has happened of late and came across some new plants as I expected. Three, in fact, I hadn't noticed before in the wood. The first was a bright crimson Snap Dragon (Antirhinum) possibly an escaped version from a local garden. Next there was a couple of groups of white/yellow daisy type flowers which turn out to be Mayweed (according to my books) and finally a plant called Figwort, tallish with lookalike 'berries' on it and with dark green foliage. It still amazes me that there are so many different plants in this small wood and I might not have picked up on three-quarters of them. I must have hit around the 80 mark to date! |
