July Diary
The beginning of
July, it's hot and humid. By the kissing gate there's
masses of towering (2m+) Hemlock and it seems the be the
peak time for the vetches. The a lovely bright purple
sample of Bush and Tufted Vetch at the entrance and the
yellow and orange tipped Meadow Vetchling seems to be
doing well. Masses of Hogweed now too. Another new identified plant for me too is St. John's Wort. I found a couple of examples in the meadow right next to Common Mallow.
Trees? Haven't said much about trees but I did come across an 'Ash' with
a smooth-ish bark and green (turning red) unripe berries - a Rowan Ash.
